cocinando en espanol...

another sweltering day in the costa rican sunshine and we are steadfastly becoming official Ticos.... we sleep to the sounds of tropical birds, literally outside our screen and wake to a hot and early sunshine...classes are going well..and Today we both felt that we made some headway...you should have heard us discussing the political state of america in espanish...today was our first day of medical spanish and it was really informative, challenging, and interesting. We spent an additional two hours in the classroom hitting the books, and then went with our Dotora, and another medical student to a retirement home in the hills...really interesting to see the differences and similarities of healthcare in different countries...and like our brains werent ready to just turn to mush from far too much head work we then proceeded back to a restaurant where we took our first cooking class! and yes, we will definetely be making the salsa at the next family gathering...kenton and i are so fortunate to be here, and are making the most of our travels together...i think we are busier here than we are even in america...class all day, the immersion programs, visiting the hospital tomorrow and then our first Salsa lesson at night!! we love hearing from all of you...enjoy our photos!

the first picture is of or town, Turriabla, and you can see the active volcano, vulcan turriabla, fumng in the background. today was the first day that we could see it clearly from the valley. the next is a picture of our classrooms. the others are from our cooking class, with Betty, who runs a restaurant and a rafting company here. Rache made the chips with a friend from Arizona, Jane. I ate them.
