Domincal....and then some

Well the blog has been silent for the past few days, but not for lack of action. Rachele and I finished up our Spanish classes on Friday and spent our last night saying good bye to the friends that we had made in Turrialba, mostly people from our Spanish school. We had to give speaches at our graduation, and I said something that I thought was pretty nice, then tried to end it with it was nice to meet you, but instead ended with "You're very welcome", which shows that I need at least two more weeks of Spanish classes. We got a good laugh out of it at least. Our two teacher and a friend from another med school went our for some drinks that night, then Rache and I woke up at 5am to catch a 6am bus to San Jose, the capital and bus hub. The first bus ride was bumpy and windy, but we were sleepy enough to make it to San Jose without much problems. The second, to San Isidrio, was another story. It was a two hour marathon through the mountains, stuffed to the brim with sweaty bodies and no way to open the window. We were both green by the time we pulled up to the station and joked the rest of the day about how we both had made plan about where would be the best place to throw up when the time came. We took a taxi for the last leg instead of waiting 5 hours for the bus and got to Dominical in time to scope out the beach and watch some awesome surfing.

Today, after sleeping 15 hours last night, we rented bikes and rode to the next town which was about 18 kilometers down the road. Since we slept in, it was midday before we got on the road and must have sweat enough to raise the tide by a few feet. We stopped in at a waterfall for a swim and them made it to Uvita. This town, we were told, was supposed to be bigger than ours, but it turns out it had a bank, a hotel and a few restaurants. We went to a national park there and rode the bikes on the sand for a bit. It was gorgeous, the jungle came right up to the tide line for high tide.

After getting back we watched the surfers and saw the sunset from our beach. Now its off to our little hotel right up the road from our school. Tomorrrow it's back to school.

Hope all is well back home.
